Puerto López is a small fishing village, located in the center of the Machalilla National Park, in the province of Manabí, Ecuador. Puerto López is located in a wide bay surrounded by green hills. It is also the base to explore the beach of Los Frailes, considered the most beautiful stretch of the coast of Manabí, Ecuador. Another popular destination is Isla de la Plata, known as the "Galápagos of the poor" because it has a great diversity of animals and birds such as blue-footed boobies, as well as being more accessible than the Galápagos Islands.
From June to September, the region, especially Puerto Lopez, hosts dozens of humpback whales that they visit to mate and give birth. There are boat trips to observe whales; Prices range from $ 15 to $ 20. Other attractions are the Agua Blanca Museum, the San Sebastian Cloud Forest and the Archaeological Museum in Salango.
