Climate of the Andes Mountains

The climate in the Andean highlands or Andes is consistent during the year. Usually, days are warm and nights are colder. If you are planning on hiking, the best time to visit is during the dry season. The rainy season lasts from January to June. Snow rarely falls even at these high altitudes.

The Andes have elevations ranging from 6,000–10,000 ft. (1,828–3,048 m.). Temperatures here range from 45°F to 60°F (7.2°C to 15.5 °C). Generally, the higher up you are, the colder it will be.

Climate of the Pacific Coast

In the coast, the best time to visit is during the rainy season, from December to May. This is a lot fresher than the dry season from June to November which can be way too cool as well as cloudy. Temperatures can range from 75°F to 85°F (23.8°C to 29.4°C) throughout the year.

Climate of the Amazon Basin

In the Amazon, it rains year round. December to May is particularly soggy. During these months, roads may be blocked. Deeper into the jungle the climate changes to even hotter and even more rain. Temperatures range from 77°F to 84°F ( 25°C to 28.9°C).

Climate of the Galapagos Islands

December to May are the warmest months in the Galápagos Islands, with the wind dropping for calmer seas. The temperatures here range from 75°F to 85°F (23.8°C to 29.4°C). The best time to visit Galápagos for warmer, calmer seas and good underwater visibility is during the dry season from June to November.
