Quito's Historic center was the first Ecuadorian city named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Historic Center of Quito has more than 300 blocks of colonial houses — 200 or 400 years of history. — Quito Historic center is known by locals as "Centro Histórico" which was built on over what was the capital of the Inca Empire. Some attractions in the Historic Center are Plaza de la Independencia (Independence Square), Quito's Cathedral, San Francisco Convent, Santo Domingo Church, Metropolitan Cultural Center, Basilica of the National Vow (Basílica del Voto Nacional), Queen Arch (Arco de la Reina) or any of the many restaurants and coffee that are close to the area.
To get to the Historical Center of Quito using public transport, you can take the Trolleybus or one of the buses that have a label on the "Centro Histórico" windshield. You can also take a taxi or even use the Uber application.
