Intiñan Solar Museum

Intiñan Solar Museum located right next to the Middle of the World monument - walking distance apart. Located in the outskirts of Quito, Ecuador. This museum features interactive exhibits and outdoor activities. In fact, it is a great place to learn more about the history of Ecuador and its indigenous people. Besides knowing how the Incas determined the middle of the earth. The Intiñan Solar Museum also offers some science experiments based on being on the equator. Events that occur only on the equator. For example, visitors can do some experiments such as making an egg stand over a screw on the equator line. If you succeed you get the Middle of the World stamp on your passport. Another experiment is walking the equatorial line with your eyes closed and arms straight out from your side.

Intiñan Solar Museum opens daily from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm. Entrance fee is $4,00 adults $2,00 children. Inside the museum area, there is a couple of gift shop selling souvenirs such as traditional handicrafts. A taxi may charge around $15 to get you there from the center of Quito. There are also buses on the Ofelia Bus Station that go to the Mitad del Mundo.
