Malecón 2000 is a promenade that overlooks the Guayas River. Malecón 2000 is one of the most important and visited places in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. Malecón 2000 is a modern urban park that attracts hundreds of people every day. Malecón 2000 is composed of playgrounds, sculptures, gardens, a cinema, and a shopping center. It also has many important monuments such as the Hemiciclo La Rotonda, a monument to José Joaquín de Olmedo, the Moorish tower and the public clock. Along the Malecón 2000, you can also see statues of some former presidents of Ecuador.
At the southern end of the Malecón 2000 is the Mercado Sur known as the Crystal Palace. Cave indicate that in front of the Crystal Palace (on the other side of the street) is a very commercial sector called "Bahia", a somewhat disorganized place, full of small kiosks and itinerant merchants that offer products. Popular with locals but not so much for foreign tourists.
At the northern end of the Malecón, are the Santa Ana Hill and Las Peñas neighborhood, popular tourist destinations, this is where the city was originally born, it is the historical part of Guayaquil. In this place, you get beautiful photos. It is also full of restaurants and bars. Additionally, at the foot of Santa Ana Hill, you will find the cinema and in front of it, amusement games and a giant wheel known as "La Perla".
