El Panecillo is a steep hill located between southern and central Quito, Ecuador. This is an excellent point of observation, where you can see panoramic views of Quito. At the top of Panecillo hill, you will also find the monument to "La Virgen del Panecillo", this monument is a majestic sculpture. "Panecillo" is a Spanish word that represents a type of small bread.
Best time to visit El Panecillo of Quito is early in the morning, maybe around 10 am, before the clouds settle in around the nearby mountains. On a clear day, you can see the Cotopaxi volcano in the distance.
