Sígsig is a town located in the Azuay province, 90 minutes East from the city of Cuenca, Ecuador. Sigsig sits in a valley surrounded by steep mountains. This town has incredible views. Sigsig is famous for its traditional handicrafts, as well as its handmade toquilla hats (Panama hats).
Sigsig's main attraction is the central plaza that features the Zanqueros monument. The monument represents warriors waking on sticks. Another tourist attractions are the Chobshi Cave and the Zhingate "beach" (lake with sand). From Cuenca, you can visit SigSig taking a bus to the bus station (terminal terrestre). Tickets cost around $2 each way. The trip takes about 37 mi (60 km.)
