Yunguilla Valley is a warm valley. It is full of fruit trees as mangoes, oranges, bananas, avocados, and lemons. Located 14 mi. (22km.) South West of Cuenca, in the province of Azuay, Ecuador. At its highest point, Yunguilla Valley is 1,500 ft. (457 mt.) lower than Cuenca. The place is one and a half hours from Cuenca by the road Girón - Santa Isabel. The sides of the road offer great scenery, with amazing natural views, indeed. On your way, visit the Giron waterfall — a place that you should not miss. Giron has a spectacular mountain waterfall.
Yunguilla Valley is not a town. Certainly, it is an area north of Santa Isabel town. Here is where many upper-class families from Cuenca have vacation homes. Yet, Yunguilla is famous as an alternative to Vilcabamba and for its low cost of living. Yunguilla is a great place for nature lovers. Visitors can enjoy birdwatching, hiking trails, and horseback riding.
The climate is warm. The temperature typically varies from 44° F to 63° F (6° C to 17° C). Rarely below 39° F (4° C) or above 67° F (19° C). It has two seasons dry and rainy. Dry season goes from June to December, while the rainy season goes from January to May.
