At its highest point, Yunguilla Valley is 1,500 ft. (457 mt.) lower than Cuenca. The place is one and a half hours from Cuenca by the road Girón - Santa Isabel. The sides of the road offer great scenery, with amazing natural views, indeed. On your way, visit the Giron waterfall — a place that you should not miss. Giron has a spectacular mountain waterfall.

Yunguilla Valley is not a town. Certainly, it is an area north of Santa Isabel town. Here is where many upper-class families from Cuenca have vacation homes. Yet, Yunguilla is famous as an alternative to Vilcabamba and for its low cost of living. Yunguilla is a great place for nature lovers. Visitors can enjoy birdwatching, hiking trails, and horseback riding.
