Chordeleg is a town in the Azuay province of Ecuador. Located approximately 24 mi. (40 km.) from Cuenca. Many local people produce silver, nickel, and brass jewelry. In fact, its handicraft jewelry is one of the attractions that Chordelet has. In the center of the town, there are more than 100 jewelry shops. They offer rings, earrings, chains, and bracelets. As well as other pieces made in yellow gold, white gold, and silver. Bargaining is normal, so don't be afraid to make an offer if you find something you like.
To get to Chordelet, from Cuenca, take a bus in the terminal terrestre (bus station). One way ticket is $2. The trip takes about an hour. But you will be rewarded with nice views and lush green valleys. From Gualaceo, it is about 9 mi. (15 km.) and a 10-minute drive. A taxi Gualaceo-Chordelet costs $2.
