Alausí is a charming town located in the Chimborazo province, Ecuador. Tourists flock to so that they can ride the Devil's Nose train, about 2 hours down from Riobamba. The descent into the valley to Alausí is spectacular. Alausí train station is another tourist attraction. As well as the Plaza Bolivar, the "13 de Noviembre" park, and the boulevard. In fact, places around the train station and the main park are colorful. So, it's worth it to walk the town streets, take pictures of the colorful buildings, murals, and street lamps. The viewpoint of San Pedro "Mirador" offers beautiful panoramic views. The viewpoint is located on the top of a hill on the edge of Alausí, it has a monument visible from the distance. Also, if you want to explore visit the Ozogoche lakes.
Alausí's local holidays are from June 5 to July 5 — the town celebrates its creation. In August are the Patron Saint Festivities. Traditional food includes a variety of soups and stews with potatoes, corn, quinoa, cheese, spinach, and other ingredients. As well as roast pork, guinea pig, or chicken.
The climate is generally cool with some rain throughout the year. The dry season is from June to September. Hottest months are from October to December. The rainy season is from October to April.
