Portete Island or "Isla Portete" is a small island located south of Esmeraldas, Ecuador. It is less than 3.7 mi (6 km) long north to south and 1.2 mi (2 km) wide at the widest point. Portete Island is a very quiet place with beautiful coconut palm trees, ideal for walking along the beach and enjoying nature. Isla de Portete has access to local restaurants. In addition, it has a large hotel complex with all the amenities in the north. Going south there is a public beach with fewer people.
From Mompiche, you can join a group or tour, you can also go on your own, in the latter case, take a $ 3 moto-taxi, then take a short boat ride to cross the river $ 0.50.
