Mar Bravo is a beach located in the province of Santa Elena, Ecuador. A few minutes from Salinas, another coastal city. Mar Bravo is inside the are of the Ecuadorian Air Force (FAE - "Fuerza Aerea Ecuatoriana" in Spanish.) As its name implies, it is a beach with a rough sea, in fact, "Mar Bravo" means "rough sea" in Spanish. One of the main activities in Mar Bravo is to take advantage of the strong waves that hit the sand and the pier. You may see many surfers taking advantage of the waves but not many people swimming around because it can be a bit dangerous for those who are not very experienced at sea.
Mar Bravo is an ideal place to practice water sports and observe some animals such as pelicans, blue-footed boobies, frigates, seagulls, herons and more. The inhabitants of this town regularly sell crafts made of shells, straw shawls, and ceramics.
