Carondelet Palace is the traditional residence and workplace of President of Ecuador. Known as "Palacio de Carondelet" in Spanish. Located in the historic center of Quito — UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site — Presidential Palace is a colonial mansion. The interiors combine authentic architectural details. Besides a central courtyard, a large fountain, and beautiful flowers. It is hard to miss, the Ecuadorian flag waves on top of the building.
Sign up in advance for a guided tour of several areas of the Presidential Palace. Tour is free and takes about an hour. You need photo identification to get in. Once inside, tourists visit the three principal spaces of the Carondelet Palace. They are the Cabinet Room, the Banquet Room, and the Yellow Room. The last one is where the portraits of past presidents hang on the walls.
