Rio Malo waterfall is a waterfall located in the Napo province, in the Amazon Region of Ecuador. It is part of The Cayambe-Coca Ecological Reserve. This waterfall has a fall of 164 ft. (50 m.) high. Rio Malo means "bad river", also known as "Cascada Magica" in Spanish. This means "Magic Waterfall." Rio Malo waterfall has a magnificent and powerful fall.
The entrance is at the intersection of the Troncal Amazonica road (E45) and Rio Malo. From there, you must walk on a cane fields path of about 656 ft. (200 m.) The round trip is 2.15 mi. (3.46 km). The bottom of the waterfall is a good spot for swimming, but remember to be careful as there are no safeguards on site. If you are not familiar with the place, hire a guide or join a tour before visiting the waterfall. Entrance is free.
