The Pichincha volcano is an active stratovolcano located next to the city of Quito, capital of Ecuador. The three highest peaks of the Pichincha volcano, known as "Los Pichinchas" are Guagua, Rucu, and Padre Encantado. From its peaks, you have a spectacular view of the city in addition to the peaks of Cayambe, Antisana, Tungurahua, and Illinizas.
The Guagua Pichincha has an altitude of 15,692 ft. (4,784 m.), it is the higher and younger of the peaks. The Rucu Pichincha has an altitude of 15,413 ft. (4,698 m.), it is an older and slightly lower summit to Guagua. The Padre Encantado has an altitude of 15,370 ft. (4,685 m.), it is the less popular of all three picks, with not much information for climbing or trekking it. The Rucu Pichincha is the closest to Quito. Ruku is typically accessed by car, taxi, or riding the TelefériQo that brings you up to 12,943 ft. (3,945 m.) From there, you can walk along a quiet friendly path.
