Jungle towns and rainforests are found in the Amazon Basil. Nearest jungle town to Riobamba is Puyo, located in the Pastaza province, in the north-east of Ecuador. From there, you can take an excursion to the Pastaza river or visit the Orchids Botanic Park. Before reach Puyo is "Banos de Agua Santa" or just "Banos", a well-known town, where you can follow the "route of the waterfalls", in Spanish "Ruta de las cascadas". This is a great way to have some adventure before arriving in Puyo. A must seen waterfall is the "Devil's Cauldron" or "Pailon del Diablo."
Some great Amazon rainforest is located inside protected areas as the Limoncocha Biological Reserve. The Ecuadorian Amazon basin is easily accessible. It is considered an economic jungle area, in comparison with other Amazonian destinations in South America.
