The Petrified Forest Puyango has the largest collection of petrified wood in the world. Trees are about 100 million years old. There are two ancient roads: The Araucarios and the Petrinos. It also many fossilized creatures such as ammonites, sea turtles, sea shells, snails, and fish.

El Oro province

El Oro is a province located in the coast of Ecuador. Its capital is Machala. Oro means gold, this province was named for its historically important gold production.

El Oro economy activity is based mostly on agriculture exports of bananas, shrimps, coffee, and cocoa. In fact, it is one of the world's major exporters of bananas. Bananas are shipped out from Puerto Bolívar mainly to North America.

El Oro local holidays are Provincialization of El Oro on April 23 and Cantonization of Machala on June 25.
