Yahuarcocha is a lake located 1.86 mi. (3 km.) Northern of Ibarra, Ecuador. Surrounded by natural viewpoints and an environment of indigenous crops and land. "Laguna Yahuarcocha" in Spanish. It means a lake of blood in the Quechua language ('Yahuar' – blood, 'Cocha' – lake). This is a reference to a battle that took place there in ancient years. A bloody massacre between different indigenous tribes.
